Reasons Why an RV Can Be a Cheap Travel Alternative

RV’s make one of the best vacation options available to Americans today. With the rising costs of airline tickets, bus tickets, hotels, and dining, RV’s now just make since! Think about it, for the price of the gas you need to get to wherever you are going, you get a customizable place to sleep, a kitchen, a bathroom, a shower, TV, and your own dishes. Dylan Miles says that vacationing with a recreational vehicle or RV is the ultimate experience in freedom. You are literally in control of your every travel movement. You are the king of the road. Your hotel room basically goes with you everywhere you go.

A basic RV usually contains beds, a table, and food preparation and storage areas. Larger models even have full bathrooms, refrigerators, living areas, master bedrooms, and hideaway beds. Some RVs are very elaborate, with satellite TV, Internet access, expandable slide-out sections, and awnings, and plenty of storage. Another advantage is that you can either store a small car inside some of the larger RVs or some RV’s have the option of towing your car behind it. RVs can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000 and up depending on what options you want. RVs can get as elaborate as having a constantly rotating satellite dish, which allows you to watch TV on the road and have high speed Internet anywhere. Most RV’s require you to stop and set up your dish, but some have the other luxury. RVs can be as small as a single small one-room space or the size of an 18-wheeler with multiple rooms and luxuries.

Many people stay at RV parks, which feature electrical, water and sewer service, as well as cable television and wireless Internet for those who don’t have a satellite dish. Amenities often include swimming pools, game rooms and even activities such as horseback riding. Others prefer campgrounds with minimal facilities.

Advantages of RVs include not having to move your things in and out of motel rooms, not having to rent multiple motel rooms, sleeping in a bed that is yours and that is comfortable. The fact that preparing food saves money compared to eating in restaurants is also a big factor to consider. Also an RV provides more organized living space and better protection from the weather than a tent, and since it goes everywhere you go, it’s like bringing the comfort of home everywhere you go!

There are a few disadvantages that should be known too. While an RV is by far the most comfortable way to travel and see the country, there are some disadvantages. First of all, they don’t always get the best gas mileage. They are bulky and heavy, which is why they don’t get the gas mileage that a car does. That is why some people tow their cars with their RV, so that when they park the RV, they can travel around town without using up all the gas in the RV.

Another disadvantage to using an RV to travel is that inexperienced RV drivers tend to have problems driving and maneuvering such a big piece of machinery. The small models don’t seem to be the problem, but it is recommended you take a commercial driving class before trying to drive the bigger models.

An RV can be a cheap travel alternative. It has your transportation, lodging, and dining all in one place. Seeing the country in an RV can be a fun and exciting way to see to the country, and not to mention one of the most comfortable ways to travel. So get an RV and see what the country wants to show you!
