Great Ways to Save on your Trip to Vegas

Published by Jennifer at 8:56 pm under Hot Cities, Las Vegas

If you are ready to plan your trip to Las Vegas, you will want to arrive with as much cash in your pocket as possible. After all, whatever money you do not have to spend on travel and entertainment is money you will be able to spend on gambling and the other amenities the city has to offer. There are so many great ways to save on your trip to Vegas that it is not surprising that many sites on the ‘Net are dedicated to savvy travelers who are looking to stretch their traveling dollars. Here are some examples of how you can stay within budget and maybe even save a bit of money!

§ Look for special travel deals on the Internet. As a general rule of thumb, the websites for the hotels and casinos almost always offer better deals than the big portal sites. In addition to the foregoing, the portals are sometimes slow on posting the latest deals and travel packages that the major resorts offer, and for this reason it is best to always check out your destination’s website first. After that go ahead and check with the portal sites. During their special promotions they might be able to cut you a better deal if you also purchase airfare or car rental services through them.

§ Check out different travel dates. A room at the Mandalay Bay Resort – arguably one of the nicest hotels on the Strip – may cost you $359 on a Saturday night, but the same room may only run you $129 on a Thursday. Do not feel that you have to go on vacation when everyone else may be in Vegas but instead book a nice room when the rooms are reasonably priced. This is a great way to stretch your traveling budget while still arriving and staying in style.

§ If you are bringing your entire family to Las Vegas, do not be easily swayed by the resorts that promise nanny service! Sure, the employees are probably screened with respect to a criminal background, but in the end it is still like leaving your children with complete strangers – even if they are nice strangers. Add to this the fact that the hotels and resorts charge considerably for this service (which is only provided during certain hours) and it is not surprising that many families eschew the idea of a family vacation altogether. This is not necessary if you bring your own babysitter! Why not take your babysitter on vacation? An inexpensive room and some food will most likely still be less expensive than relying on the hotel’s nanny service, and you will have peace of mind as well.

§ Quite possibly the best way to save on a trip to Vegas is to consider what entertainment to take in when you get there. Granted, you will probably be able to score tickets to a free show, but as you might well imagine, these free shows are free for a reason: the hotel cannot sell the tickets! Sometimes the acts are new, and other times they have bombed so badly that the hotel will prefer to use the tickets as a write off rather than having to refund monies. For this reason it is best to find entertainment that will be more enjoyable than free show tickets for a somewhat unfunny comedian. Fortunately there are plenty of free activities available, such as the lion habitat at the MGM Grand, the Italian flair and feel of the Venetian, and the sights and sounds of the Fremont Street experience. These exciting opportunities will make any free show pale by comparison.
