Are you heading to the island paradise that in 1952 became our nation’s 50th state? (For those of you that are not that into history–that means Hawaii!) A Hawaiian vacation is something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Hawaii is no longer something only the rich can afford to see. Even someone on a limited budget can experience the nation’s most beautiful island. Even you can afford to go to Hawaii!

The most expensive part of a Hawaiian vacation is getting to Hawaii. You can easily spend over a thousand dollars just on a single plane ticket. That is a lot of money for someone on a budget. The key to getting a cheap flight is timing. Flying anywhere during the peak tourist season almost doubles the cost of flights and hotels. It is always summer in Hawaii, so you don’t always have to go during the summer. Peak tourist season runs from June 1st to Labor Day. If you can avoid flying during these dates, you can save up to 50% on your flight alone. If you must go during these times, websites like Travelocity offer discounts and package deals. If you are willing to be flexible on your travel dates and departure locations, Priceline’s website offers tremendous discounts on flights year round. If you take your time and do your homework, you can easily get a flight to Hawaii for only a couple hundred dollars rather than a thousand dollars.

The next obstacle to overcome is lodging. While a room with an ocean view may be just what you had in mind, it may not be what your wallet has in mind. Sometimes your travel agent or an Internet travel site will offer you great deals on beachfront hotels, but usually, you will be paying a hefty price for that ocean view. Never fear! Just a few blocks away and a few dollars cheaper you will find the perfect lodging. Hotels that are located off the beach are usually about half the price of those on the beach. Sometimes you are not even far enough away from the beach to not see it, and the price of the hotel drops by half. If you are willing to walk 10 minutes, the price drops more. You have heard it in every business class you have ever taken: Location! Location! Location! Even for hotels this law applies. The further from the beach the hotel is located, the cheaper it will be. How far from the beach should you be located? That depends on how big your budget is. You can get a good hotel for under $40 a night less than a ten minute drive from the beach. Yes you have to drive, but the price is unbeatable!

If you can manage to fly there and get a hotel that meets your budget means, then you have mastered the major hurdles of a Hawaiian vacation. The only thing you have to worry about is food. Most Hawaiian towns have all the major restaurant chains and even a few new ones, so you can easily find everything from a value meal to a four star dining experience. They have everything for every budget. If you want to spend more money on partying or souvenirs, they have fast food galore!

There are two main reasons people can’t ever make it to Hawaii: They can’t afford the plane ticket, or they can’t afford the hotel. If you just know how to get it, you can get both at a good price. Now there is no reason that everyone can’t go to Hawaii at least once. With today’s Internet, there is no reason why you too can’t be Hawaii bound and within budget too!

After tying the knot, most couples enjoy embarking on a traditional honeymoon of sorts. Some honeymoons are given as a gift to the newly weds from the parents or family of the bride and groom, while others are planned well in advance. Honeymoons are normally a one to two week long vacation for the newly weds, intended as a beautiful beginning to the new life waiting for them. There are many offers and travel packages available for honeymooners through travel agencies or the happy couple may decide to plan their own honeymoon without the help of a travel agency. With all the wonderful places in this world to go, the hardest part can be deciding between all of the beautiful and most romantic places in the world and choosing only one. Although there are many wonderful and romantic honeymoon locations in the US and even through out the world, here is a list of the most popular vacations for honeymooners in the US.

1. Hawaii. Ranking as the number one most popular, beautiful and romantic vacation destinations for honeymooners, Hawaii offers world class hotels, delicious cuisine, beautiful beaches, hidden coves, abounding water sports for those water sports enthusiasts and the perfect weather all year round. Imagine walking into an uncrowded, immaculate beach where the air is serene and touched with the fragrance of exotic flowers. The water a pristine turquoise blue and the thick banyan trees bow their branches to such majesty. Visit Waikiki, Maui and many of the other islands during your stay and enjoy the Hawaiian culture. There is a large variety of hotels and resorts to choose from, such as Halekulani, Hyatt Regency and the Kahala Mandarin Oriental Hawaii. All hotels and resorts offer wonderful packages and benefits.

2. Niagara Falls. Ranking the second most popular and romantic vacation destination for honeymooners, the natural wonders of Niagara Falls is both popular and affordable and can be enjoyed from either the US or the Canada side. Along with the Niagara Falls attractions is the “Maid of the Mist” boat cruise with the enjoyable IMAX feature film of “Miracles, Myths, and Magic” relating to the history of Niagara Falls. Nearby are attractions like the Guinness World of Records Museum, Mystery Maze, The Haunted House and The House of Frankenstein are simply a must-see while visiting the area. While visiting Niagara Falls, step into New York to sample the world’s best theaters, restaurants and shops. There’s a lot to do and see in and around Niagara Falls, with ample room to splurge.

3. Florida. Despite coming in third, Florida has plenty to offer from coast to coast. A warm festive atmosphere, beautiful sunsets and quelling beaches, Florida offers a little bit of something for everyone. The hardest thing for honeymooners with their heart set on Florida is deciding where to go. With choices from Walt Disney World and all the wonders of Orlando, Palm Beach, Miami, Daytona and the Florida Keys, honeymooners can find a variety of havens in Florida. With all the entertainment, sightseeing, water sports and relaxation, there is also an assortment of hotels and resorts from which to choose, all with their own special accommodations.Â

4. Las Vegas. Although coming in fourth, because it can be a bit more costly, Las Vegas is still a favorite among honeymooners. This is a city that never closes its doors and with all the sightseeing, entertainment and hotel accommodations to choose from, many couples can tie the knot and celebrate their honeymoon in the same city. Known for gambling, celebrities and fast weddings, Las Vegas is an experience that must be lived at least once in your life.

Closely following the four most popular honeymooner vacations are these most popular honeymoon havens: California (Wine Country), Pennsylvania (Poconos), Louisiana (New Orleans) and all the Southern states of the Gulf Coast. There are many beautiful and romantic honeymoon havens to escape to after tying the knot. These vacations can be bought in many different packages with a specific itinerary in mind or done at the spur of the moment. Either way, you don’t have to leave the US in order to have a romantic honeymoon, there are numerous hot honeymoon vacation spots right here in the US.

Â

Hawaii is the place to go for white sands, relaxing beaches and beautiful, clear water. While most people go to Hawaii for the beach, an equal amount of travelers long to visit the islands for the volcanoes. If you are interested in a different type of vacation, consider visiting the state to experience this part of the islands.

One legend says that if a person removes any part of a volcanic rock for the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, he or she will be cursed until it is returned. While this may or may not be true, anyone visiting these beautiful volcanoes will be taken by the sheer magnitude and natural beauty. There are many ways to visit the Hawaiian volcanoes. Some tourists choose to see the volcanoes as a side trip to their vacation. There are many companies in Hawaii that offers visitors a chance to hike on guided tours through the volcanoes and surrounding areas. If you are interested in a more in-depth exploration, consider booking a stay at one of the many cottages that are surrounding the volcanoes. You can spend your days exploring the area without going too far. Another great way to see the volcanoes of Hawaii is to book a helicopter flight. These flights will take you over the volcanoes so you can get a first hand look at the inside from a choice view.

One of the best places to see a Hawaiian volcano is to visit the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This national park was established in 1916, and is the result of over 70 million years of volcano eruptions and evolution. The biggest volcano is the Mauna Loa and the most active is the Kilauea. This state park offers visitors beautiful and unique wilderness, hiking and camping.

If you are interested in visiting the volcanoes of Hawaii, it is suggested that you do a little research first. Some of the volcanoes will require extensive hiking skills to reach. It is not recommended that pregnant women, infants and the elderly climb. Fresh lava can be very shell-like and can easily break when stepped on. Also, you will need to keep up to date on the lava flow activity in the area before heading out. Those who are experts on visiting the volcanoes also recommend planning your trips in advanced and plan to start your day out early.

When you leave for your trip, remember to take sunglasses and a wear sunscreen. The weather can change rapidly. You should always be ready for the heat and for cold, windy and rainy weather, as well. As you get higher above sea level, the temperature will drop drastically. Make sure you bring a warm jacket. Also, remember that if you are planning a long day at the volcanoes, bring food and water. While there are concessions, some areas of the park are rather remote and you will not have immediate access. Here is a list of activities that you must see and do when you visit Hawaii in order to see the volcanoes.

Mauna Loa, also called the Long Mountain: This Hawaiian volcano is the largest volcano in the world, and rises to over four kilometers above sea level. In fact, this volcano covers over half of the Island of Hawaii. In addition, the Mauna Loa is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Since it was first documented in 1843, this volcano has erupted 33 times. Scientists in the area carefully monitor the Mauna Loa for signs that it might erupt again.

Kilauea: This active volcano is adjacent to the Mauna Loa, although smaller. It is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and has been for over 100 years. The current eruption began on January 3, 1983 and there is no end in sight. This volcano offers visitors a wonderful way to see fresh flowing lava at all times of the year. In addition, there is a distinct rainfall on the side of the Kilauea volcano that receives and annual rainfall of over 100 inches of rain each year.

Hualalai: This volcano is the third most active volcano on the Island of Hawaii. Between 1700 and 1801, it has erupted six different times. Two of those times, it sent hot lava flows into the sea. While it is not as active as the Kilauea and the Mauna Loa, it is still considered a dangerous volcano and is likely to see activity in the next 100 years. There are several homes and resorts near this popular volcano.

If you are visiting Hawaii, make sure you take the time to visit these spectacular volcanoes.
